Dread Tread is a Battlegear in the Turn of the Tide set.
Rulings[]
- Dread Tread can only grant a Creature up to one additional movement per turn. The number of movements is tied to the Creature, not the Dread Tread itself.
- Because Prexxor Chasm's Showdown does not count towards your number of combats per turn, you can conduct two "normal" combats using Dread Tread in the same turn.
Strategies[]
Because damage is only removed automatically from Creatures at the end of a turn, not the end of a combat, attempting to start a second combat using Dread Tread will likely entail fighting with a heavily damaged Creature that ends up being quickly destroyed. This makes Dread Tread a win-more effect in most cases and generally not worth a slot due to its lack of effect in an actual combat. Note, however, that you can also use it to retreat the Creature holding it.
Uksum used with an army composed solely of high-Energy Creatures is likely the best candidate for using Dread Tread as Uksum can effectively refill his Energy with his ability at the start of the second combat, although the lack of support abilities in such a deck limit its overall potential.
